Designing for Life: A Family Home Transformed

We’ve been working with this client for five years now, delivering a series of projects across their home. They brought us in right at the start of their renovations and have returned time and again, knowing they can trust us to deliver with precision, creativity, and attention to detail. That ongoing relationship has been key, allowing us to build a clear understanding of their preferences and priorities, helping us create spaces that reflect their vision.

The first two phases focused on the master suite, two living spaces, two children’s bedrooms, the entrance hall, and the conservatory. The brief called for timber flooring throughout, bespoke joinery that worked as hard as it looked, and lighting schemes to bring every space to life. Furniture selections were chosen to add function and elegance without losing flow, blending subtle 1930s and 1960s influences with contemporary refinement.

Take a look at the finished result below, followed by the story of how we brought it to life.

Trusted Project Management

As with all Bonsai projects, we started with a detailed discovery phase, using moodboards and renders to bring ideas to life before work began. With the family based off-island for much of the project, our role managing everything — alongside trusted local contractors — was essential in keeping the process smooth from start to finish.

Before

The property had strong potential but felt disjointed. The flooring was dated and inconsistent, lighting was flat, and storage was lacking. The main living spaces lacked focal points, the conservatory was underused, and the bedrooms offered little character or comfort. Overall, the home needed a complete reimagining to connect the spaces and enhance functionality.

After

A complete transformation blending bespoke detailing, curated furnishings, and precise planning, with the orangery as the centrepiece. Highlights include custom joinery, a hand-crafted dining table, premium furniture from leading European brands, and lighting from Occhio, Bomma, DCW éditions and Maretti.

From the main living room with its Planika fire to the refined orangery and character-filled bedrooms, each space now has its own mood yet is connected by a consistent design language.

Full project details are included in the attached.

Phase Three

Now, with the orangery complete — the final piece of the interior transformation — we’ve moved into phase three: the outdoor space. This next stage includes garden design, furniture sourcing, landscaping, and lighting design, continuing a project we’ve been proud to shape from the very beginning.

Watch this space as we continue to work on this stunning home, making our client’s vision a reality.
